SILVANA JEYD PAREDES

Born and raised in Los Angeles California,”Jeyd” began her journey in the early 90′s. Using spray paint as her focal medium while exploring different surfaces and styles. While painting images that were more political in nature, using influences drawn from various indigenous cultures (going back to her own South American roots). Her paintings show the struggle of spiritual beings and corporate strong holds wrestling to gain control. Natural vs mechanical, the fight over earth through all its unseen realms. Now using acrylics, aerosol to oils Jeyd finds a connection to earth and all of its wonders as she tries to convey messages of hope and inspiration in her work. Nicholas Ganz has published Jeyds artwork, in the book Graffiti World: Street Art from Five Continents. Jeyd has exhibited her work at Self Help Graphics, Crewest, Sparcs, DA Gallery in Pomona, and Meltdown in Los Angeles. She has painted along with other recognized artists such as Judy Baca, Crayone, Eva Cockroft, Drama One, Sonya Fe, Man One, Raul Gonzalez and many others at various walls in Los Angeles, Hawaii, Oakland and Mexico, thus making her an active individual in this competitive and challenging field. Jeyd continues to make her mark.
